Weekly News & Homework: October 29th-2nd

Weekly News: October 29-November 2 We had such a great time investigating pumpkins! Thank you for all the help and donations. We could not do it without you! We are excited to try all of those roasted pumpkin seeds this week! Remember to wear your PJs to school on Wednesday! We are excited to celebrate in our Fall Centers! Thank you for signing up for donations and to volunteer! :) There is no school on Monday, November 12th due to Veteran's Day and no school Tuesday, November 13th due to parent conferences. If you have not signed up for a parent conference yet, please  check the ParentSquare sign up post to choose a time that is best for you.  I am looking forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child's growth in the classroom. Because we only have so much time per conference, I'd like to politely ask that you arrive on time so we can make the most of our time together. Weekly News & Homework: October 22nd-26th

This week we will read and learn all about pumpkins. We will learn the life cycle of a pumpkin along with many other pumpkin facts. On Friday, we will be having a fun pumpkin exploration day! We will be investigating pumpkins by measuring, weighing, experimenting with pumpkins, as well as  scooping and counting seeds.  This can get REALLY MESSY - it would be a good idea to send an old button up shirt, a "daddy shirt", or an apron for your child to wear over their clothes on this day!  We are excited for this fun activity!  On Wednesday, 10/31, we will be having fun "Fall Centers"!  Please see our ParentSquare post (coming SOON!) if you are able to donate supplies or volunteer your time on this day.  We had so much fun on our field trip to the pumpkin patch. Weekly News: October 15-19 This week we will read and learn all about spiders. We will explore non-fiction text and explore fact and opinion as we write facts we are learning about spiders.  It is spirit week this week! Show your school spirit by dressing up fun each day!  Monday, Oct. 15th: ColorSplash Day - go CRAZY with color!  Tuesday, Oct. 16th: Tacky Tourist Tuesday - dress like you are visiting another country.  Wednesday, Oct. 17th: WE ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN SPIRIT DAY TODAY BECAUSE OF OUR FIELD TRIP. Please wear your blue ILCS shirt or another blue shirt!!! Thursday, Oct. 18th: Throwback Thursday - dress like your favorite decade.  Friday, Oct. 19th: Pajama Day Friday! Weekly News: October 8-12 This week we will read and learn all about bats. We will explore non-fiction text and write facts that we are learning about bats.  Our field trip to Greenspot is NEXT WEEK! Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to chaperone. Chaperones may either ride the bus with us or drive separate. Please remember to bring your $8 cash. We will be sending out digital permission slips for the field trip via ParentSquare this week, so keep an eye out for those digital permission slips and complete it as soon as you can! We are also asking for snack donations on the day of our field trip. Weekly News & Homework: October 1st-5th

Weekly News: October 1-5 Our very first kindergarten field trip is coming up! We will be going to Greenspot Farms in Mentone on Wednesday, October 17th. We will be leaving school by bus around 8:30 for our 9:00 farm tour. During this tour, our students will have the opportunity to enjoy a hayride, feed the farm animals, visit the honey house, learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin, and even pick their very own pumpkin to take home! We will then enjoy snack together at the picnic tables at 10:45, then be back to school in time for dismissal and electives.  Please do not forget to donate $35 for our entire year of kindergarten field trips onto our school's Dollar a Day website.
