Weekly News & Homework: September 30th-October 4th

Weekly News: September 30-October 4 This week we will continue to read and write about Autumn. We will continue to learn about leaves and discuss our favorite fall activities. What Are We Learning This Week?: Sight Words:   HE, SHE, WENT, TO, PLAY. Letter Team:    AY  (like in PLAY, DAY) and ING (like in SING, RING). Word Family:   -AY and -AM. Please help your child with word families of the week by asking them to create different words with  the word family -ay (for example: BAY, DAY, SAY, MAY, HAY) and -am (SAM, HAM, RAM, SLAM). Reading:  We will continue reading books about Autumn and leaves, fall changes, and fun things to do in the fall. We will continue to read our book bag books and work on our letters, sounds, and sight words every day.  Writing:  We are learning that syllables can help us sound out words. Weekly News: September 23-27 Happy Autumn! Though it may not feel like it outside, this week we will be reading and writing all about fall.  Please remember to bring your book bags to school every day. The papers and books inside your book bag are to be worked on every night at home and returned to school in your book bag so that we can work on them every day at school. Starting this week I will begin our guided reading groups where we will be working on specific reading strategies to prepare/help your child learn how to read! Without their book bag, they will miss out on following along with their own materials and will not have opportunities to take books home. Please be sure they have this with them everyday. Our field trip is THIS WEDNESDAY! On Wednesday, come to school wearing your ILCS shirt (or any other blue shirt) and some good walking shoes. You do not need to bring folders, book bags, or lunch boxes this day (unless you are staying for electives). We will ...

Weekly News: September 16-20  We had so much fun making apple pies! Thank you for all of your donations and a special thank you to all of our fabulous parent helpers for ALL of your help making our pies! This week we will finish our unit on apples by making applesauce together! YAY! Our field trip is next WEDNESDAY! On Wednesday the 25t, come to school wearing your ILCS shirt (or any other blue shirt) and some good walking shoes. You do not need to bring folders, book bags, or lunch boxes this day (unless you are staying for electives). We will board the bus around 8:45 and return to school in time for dismissal and electives. Don't forget to return your permission slip and donate on Dollar A Day. Weekly News: September 9-13  The class had so much fun tasting apples on Friday.  This Friday, we will be making apple pie as we continue our study on apples. You can sign up on ParentSquare to bring items for this event. Thank you so much! We could not do it without you!  Thank you to the families that attended our Parent Workshop. I really appreciate you taking the time to join us in the classroom and I hope that it was informational and helpful. :) If you were not able to join us, I will be sending home all of the papers and the packet that we went over. I will be placing our first Scholastic book order on September 20th! Be sure to look through the catalogs for some fun books for order! Our very first kindergarten field trip is coming up! Our class and Mrs. Marion's class will be going to Willowbrook Apple Farm in Oak Glen on Wednesday, September 25th. We will be leaving school by bus around 8:45 for our 9:30 apple farm tour.
