Welcome to Kindergarten!  Welcome to kindergarten!! I am Mrs. Bobrink and I am thrilled to be your child's kindergarten teacher! Over the next year, you will become  very  familiar with our classroom website, checking it EVERY WEEK for homework, announcements, and classroom news. Feel free to look around and familiarize yourself! Make sure to check out the tabs along the top of the blog site. Also make sure you are signed up for ParentSquare and that you are receiving those important updates.  Your child will need a backpack and a lunch box starting the first day of school!  Thank you for taking the time to visit our classroom website for the first time of many. Hello! My name is Brilane Bobrink and I am beyond excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher! I am looking forward to having a successful academic year! This is a big step for your little one, so please allow me to share a little about myself. :) I have earned a Master's Degree in Education with a teaching credential from the University of California, Riverside, where I have also received a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies. My passion has always been working with children! This will be my seventh year teaching Kindergarten here at Inland Leaders. I have also had the opportunity to work in 1st and 3rd grade classrooms, tutor students from elementary levels to college levels, teach dance at a local dance studio, work as a summer camp counselor for young children, and teach Sunday School  (preschool through 5th grade). We no longer celebrate birthdays in class with food items of any kind to be shared due to allergies. But if you wish to bring in non-edible goodies/goodie bags, feel free to do so! Thank you for your understanding.  Note: If your child's birthday falls during a summer month when we are not in school, we reserve one day towards the last week of school to celebrate and honor these summer birthday friends.  Thank you for all of your help in making your child's birthday so special at school!

Phonemic awareness  is understanding sounds in words, rhyming, and syllables. Strong phonemic awareness is important to early reading skills.    A great way to practice phonemic awareness is to play word/sound games with your child. For example, you can play  rhyming  games by giving your child a word such as hat and ask your child to produce a new word that rhymes with hat.  Continue taking turns until all words are exhausted (hat, bat, cat, fat, rat, sat, mat, splat).  Many students have a difficult time rhyming and will give a new word with the same beginning sound.  You can use the word family of the week as a starting place for rhymes each week.   You can work on helping your child  identify the beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words .  You can give your child a word, or show them a picture and ask what is the beginning sound in the word.  For example, say the word moon and ask “What is the beginn...
